Because it is located next to Highland Park Elementary, Perry Playground Park is brimming with playground equipment. Perry Park was once a limestone quarry, so there are numerous geological features to discover. There are also trails to explore in the park’s wooded area to the west.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, we happened to be in the area and found Perry Playground for the kids to run off some of the energy. Perry Playground is a City of Austin park that is adjacent to Highland Park Elementary and Crenshaw Athletic Club. For the most part, the park and the school run together. It\u2019s quite lovely actually, especially to come on a weekend when they had free roam of both the city and school playgrounds.<\/p>\n

Perry Playground was once a limestone quarry, and as such there are some interesting rock formations.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><\/div>\nThe kids weren\u2019t too interested in the playground once we figured out that there are small, easy to traverse trails in the wooded areas, back near the multipurpose fields. The trails were well traveled, short, a little narrow, but definitely easy enough for a 2 year old to handle with ease. There were even some fall colors.<\/p>\nThe playground is well maintained, suitable for toddlers and younger children. The playground has two sets of swings, one with bucket swings for the littlest ones.<\/p>\nOlder children will have more fun climbing on the two playscapes at the elementary school. There are tennis courts at the park along with a crushed rock track. Basketball courts are under the large green awning at the elementary school.<\/p>\nThere were not too many people here. I imagine it was because the park is tucked into the neighborhoods and somewhat blended in with the elementary school so not really visible off the road.
